Dream a little dream of me.

Everything's a version of something else. I think I've figured it out. Happiness isn't a death trap. It's a death option. It's not something you fall into by accident, it's not a portion of someone else's scheme. There is no ploy. There exists no mastermind.

You prevent yourself from falling for Happiness' lies and tricks. You remove yourself from the emotions because you don't want to have to close your eyes and brace yourself for the impact. You become vulnerable, you become younger than you've ever been. Supple, sullen, sallow.

But it's not a trap, it's an effort. It's not a consequence, it's a precondition. "Through all the cruelty and hardships of the world, we are not mere victims of fate." Let's stop behaving like we are. and dear friends, choose to be happy.

Everyone's a broken version of something else. We sing, we dance, we tell lies through our smiles. We prance around like it's a joke, and we pretend to pretend that we're happy, when all we want is for it to be true. and it is. Happiness is a mental state of mind. It is a given.

It's closer than you think. And it loves you more than you'd care to believe.
