Before I go ahead with sleeping, I need to cut you away from my flesh. I switch off the channels and gently place you by my bedside, feeling victorious at having put your voice to rest, at having you put on hold. I lie in bed, safe and warm, and wait for daybreak. I'm trusting my instincts and saying that you're up to no good. Please, don't tell me I'm being paranoid.
I had the whole of the sleeping hours to stare at you. I took all my chances.
