In a space that's too small

We hid behind the wall and we cried. So ashamed, so tired. "Bias. You are bias," they accused. And we believed them, we swallowed it whole. We admitted, "Where was our due diligence when the people we were meant to help questioned us to our faces? It was not there, it was not there." So, we hid and we cried, trying to hide from our shame, trying to hide from the world.

How foolish we were. How little credit we gave ourselves. How little credit I gave myself. Damn it, Natalie. You know better than to let others tell you who you are. You're not without integrity, you're not without principle. Why'd you have to hide, why'd you lose your tongue at the moment you should have found your courage?

That wall stands there but it crumbles in disgust for us. We knew better. We should have proven it.
